Are you still using massive, complicated prompt templates from older AI models? Itβs time to stop! GPT-5.5 requires a completely different approach.
In this video, we break down the new playbook for getting the best, most accurate results out of GPT-5.5 by actually doing less. Less instruction bloat equals more useful outputs.
π§ The 5 New Rules for Prompting GPT-5.5:
Rule 1: Start Minimal, Then Add. Don’t pre-load every edge case. Prompting should be an iteration, not guesswork. Ask once, inspect, and then add missing instructions.
Rule 2: State the Outcome Clearly. Name the deliverable before the details (e.g., instead of “help me with this,” use “Create a 5-bullet launch risk memo”).
Rule 3: Give Real Inputs. Don’t make the model guess. Paste the actual data, notes, transcripts, or code it should use. Source data beats assumptions!
Rule 4: Do Not Over-Instruct. Too many rules fight each other. Only keep rules that affect Accuracy, Format, Safety, or Compliance. Everything else is clutter.
Rule 5: Revisit Old Prompt Templates. Yesterday’s prompt hacks might be today’s noise. Delete duplicated rules and drop the “fake personas” in favor of clear outcome language.
β Your Pre-Send Checklist:
Is the outcome clear?
Did I provide the real input?
Are the constraints necessary?
Is the format explicit?
Can anything be deleted?
Start shorter. Add only what improves the output!
